Hi Donna, You asked what mountains were in the picture in my fall gallery. Most of the photos in that gallery including the one you commented on where taken in the Sandwich range at the Southern end of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The mountain you are looking at is Mt Whiteface. Thanks for visiting my galleries and hope to see you there again in the future. I have looked more in depth at your galleries and am impressed with them, you compose very well and have been able to travel to some very neat and photogenic places. Keep up the great work and I'll be back from time to time to see any additions.

Hi. I live in a forest environment in the far eastern corner of Washington. While hiking I often come upon a small (.5 inch) moth or butterfly that is lavender in color and without any other markings that I can see. It is not solitary; that is, they are always in a small group flitting about the ground. Do you have any idea of what they might be? My research in my insect guide and at your site has not turned up anything useful so far. Thank you. Max

Donna: I was doing a search for my name on msn and as I scrolled down, I saw "Ellie, Bea, Margie....Nina..." and "Frank.." which caught my attention. I clicked onto the site, stunned to see my father as a three or so year old child, ring bearer in Nina's wedding...and then went into the galleries. The pictures you have of of Grammy (Mary Albrizio), Aunt Gilda, you father (Ann's brother) and others are beautiful shots. They are exactly the types of photos I've been asking around the family for "copies" to make and give back--your collection has rare shots (to my eyes) and great poses of Grammy, Popanon, my dad as a youngster, Aunt Gilda...so nice to see. IT's funny how the universe brings what we need, when we need it (seeing such rare shots, and seeing you online. I hope all is well and that we may someday get together.

I came across the picture of my Aunt Nina and Uncle Tony's wedding online; my dad is the "little" ring bearer, Frank Albrizio (I'm Frank Albrizio, Jr.). It was such a shock to see this shot.

Donna, I'm really enjoying your photos. I'm assuming from reading some of the comments that you are in Vermont? I found your site through Google Images when I was trying to find very local (to me!) butterfly references. I'm in mid-Canada, directly north of Minneapolis. Books on North American Butterflies, Eastern Butterflies or even Ontario Butterflies, aren't much help to me as our area is very 'specific' and doesn't seem to fit into any of these classifications. I'll go back and really look at your photos now...they're beautiful!

Donna, Thanks for the comments on my butterfly photos. Really, most of them are chance encounters or lucky shots. I hope you get a chance to see my dragonfly and salamander galleries (my real specialties). You have some really nice photos here. I especially enjoyed your intimate pictures of moths in your house, spiders on flowers, and frogs in the water. Your raptor pics are gorgeous. I also loved seeing pictures of Sendai. I was there in 95 with a very cheap Fuji camera and a couple rolls of Kodak 100 (and I was only 15) so I didn't get very many good pictures at all. It was great to see the Masamune Date statues and armor and the temple at Matsushima again. (I can almost taste the succulent fried Matsushima Bay oysters)! Keep shooting!

Dear Donna, Thank you very much for your nice comments. You have a lot of pretty good photos in your galleries. I found them, because you use the Canon S3, too. I'm quite happy with my Canon S3, and use it much more than my other cameras. Battery is ok for me - because I use recharabe batteries. I can make more than 400 pictures with these batteries, which is 4 times more than with my other cameras. 12 x zoom is fantastic, macro is fantastic, and picture made during sun was shining are phantastic as well. But pictures, made with less light, are very granular. I think, that could be much better. Nevertheless, I like this camera, and I woud buy it again. Kind regards, Roland

I spent three years in Camp Sendai 1951 1954. I loved the town and people. If I could afford it, I would love to take my wife to Sendai. Thanks for your information and wonderful galleries.

Yes I like my Cannon PS A520 camera for what it offers for the price. But the picture usualy come out a little soft for my taste. But it seems that in close range like close ups and macro it does a really good job.Its a good first time camera on wich to learn photography.But if I had the funds I would choose something more advanced like the Cannon S 2 IS or Pannasonic FZ 5 with Image stabilized lens, since I like to take the boats I build out to use as a photo taking platform on lakes and strems but a tripod is amost useless since it still would transmit all the movement of the boat. Yes it can be used as a movie camera and it does pretty good at it. The only thing about this camera that I dont like is the lack of speed in action photography its extremely slooooooow in writting the picture to the SD card.With flash its even worse.But I'm glad I bought it, it really opened up a new way of seeing Gods creation and the world.And its small enough to have it allways close by as a constant companion in one of my pocket.

Thank you for your comments. The Pileated Woodpeckers would normally be a once in a lifetime experience but it has occurred in each of the past two years between the end of March and late May. What you are seeing is a pair of Pileated's. I assume that they are the same pair from year to year. They are only seen sporadically during the other 10 months. I have gotten within 10 feet of them on occasion when they are engrossed in their respective behavioral antics. And, I do visit the Eastern Shore periodically, primarily Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. You have a great and quite impressive selection of galleries.

Graham, the 20D can be noisy, however I am acclimated to it. and I don't have a 300D to switch off to. But now you have given me a good idea. We both [Peter and I] have trouble with dust particles because we change lenses...that's not so much fun either.

thanks for the comments on my photo's, regarding the photo of our cat that you commented on, she is jumping for a palm tree frond, she will run after anything at the moment because she is still a baby, just over a year old. i think that your galleries are excellent, i noticed that you use a 20D, what do you think of it?, i think it is an excellent camera, but a bit on the noisy side, my wife uses a 300D which is basic but very quiet.

Thank you Donna for stopping at my on-line albums. As you noticed, Jordan has a lot to offer for visitors, with well diversified tourist facilities to cater for their needs and pleasures. Autumn and Spring are the best seasons for visiting. In reply to your questions, Jordan was under the influence of the Great Roman Empire, who left many historic cities and other remains. Donna, Wonderful pictures!!! I really like the ones of the Buddhist temple in Sendai. The Buddha statues, etc. were beautiful. Hi Donna, I'm glad to know that you enjoyed your trip to Japan! The pictures are wonderful, and you captured essences of Japan beautifully. I like the photos in Sendai very much, because I have never been there. ^_^ As for the photo, you are wondering if the image is Buddha, I'm not so sure that this is the image of him, it could be the image of other "Hotoke", such as "Amitatabha Tathagata" etc. Let me know more about your trip, when you have a time.
