Message from Reykjavik Impressions / Stefán Ólafsson
Hello! This is my outlet for the fruits of my hobby, experimental photography. I am a professor of social sciences at the University of Iceland, living in Reykjavík (homepage: www.ts.hi.is).
In my experiments with photography I work a lot with reflections. Reflections from water, glass and other materials. I look for images in strange places and surroundings, generally trying to see beyond the ordinary. Hence the frequent references to "abstractions" and "impressions". Each gallery usually has a fairly coherent theme.
The images that are to be found in these galleries are generally not extensively processed with digital technology. I use that technology however to enhance figures, colours and contours. Abstract figures from reflections or unusual conditions emerge from the camera to be selected and enhanced by me, but they are not artificially created by me.
