Message from Ann Chaikin
My name is Ann Chaikin and I'd like to welcome you to my Pbase photo site. I've been a photographer since I was a young girl. In 2002 I moved from film to digital and never looked back. What I like to do most with my photography is to show the beauty and magic in everyday things. I also love to take photographs of people in moments of happiness and play. I prefer to document the bright moments of life and to reveal the beauty that I see around me.
For many years I worked at IBM in New York and California and at Whatcom Community College here in Bellingham. I was a programmer, trainer, manager and coordinator. I retired in 2005 and began to paint, something I'd wanted to do for years. I paint in oils because I love the richness of color and the way oil paint mixes and moves on the canvas. Like my photographs, my paintings are about everyday life. Many are of the places people live, both inside and out. My work is evolving as I grow as a painter. All my years as a photographer have given me a special view of light and color that I am infusing into my paintings. You can see pictures of my paintings here along with my photographs.
I live in the beautiful Northwest where it rains all winter and has long beautiful days in the summer. I share my home with my sweet husband Arvin and a senior Maine Coon cat named Fiona Queen of the Universe. You can see both of them here on my photo site. Enjoy your visit.
