Hi Mark,
I am an editor for a national high school sports website (MaxPreps.com) and we came across your photos for Mitchell Stadium. I would like to chat with you about the possibility of using one of your great shots for a story we are doing about "10 high school football stadiums to see before you die".
Could you please contact me at leland.gordon@cbsinteractive.com ?

I notice these great photos were taken with a Nikon point & shoot... So many people have waisted $$$ going the SLR route when they have not mastered the basics.

Hello Mark,
I have enjoyed your many photographs of WV as they bring back memories. I was born in Princeton and grew up in Bluefield and now live in NY State.

I, like others that have viewed your work are in awe. I am going to be relocating to Glenwood, Va (Spurlock Creek Road) hopefully if the deal on the property goes well. I am curious how far the pic that you took is from Spurlock Creek, Glenwood, WV. I am in love with the landscape and can't wait to be a part of it in the fall of 2008.

Pictures are great. I've sent your URL to some of my friends from WV. Tx.

Hello Mark, you have some very nice photos here!

Thanks for the kind comment on my gallery, I am glad you enjoyed the pictures.

As for your question, that is not a photo of the sound barrier being broken. It is not done at airshows, close to the public, contrary to common belief. In that photo you can see the air moisture condensing. Because of the way a wing works to generate lift, the air density and pressure are much lower just above and behind the wing. This makes the air less capable of holding humidity it just saturates very quickly. So sometimes you can see a cloud travelling together with the jet plane. Breaking the sound barrier close to the public would be dangerous and hazardous, probably shattering a lot of glass and bursting some eardrums as well.

All the best!

Mark,
I too think the Cascades is the most beautiful place in the world! Have only been there about 8 times but each time I go it's like the first time. I was so glad to find your pictures. Beautiful! Brings back a lot of wonderful memories. I am from Roanoke but now live in Northern Va.

Mark, I really enjoyed your photos. I'm a Bluefield native, now living in Northern Virginia. My two older sons love to hear my stories about hiking to the Cascades and "crawdaddin'" at Dismal Falls. I'll be sure to share the photos with them.
