Hi Keith,
You've fantastically captured many events here. I work with a few Bridgeport Fire fighters and my girl friend is a volunteer in the Derby/Ansonia area (I see we were at the same parades!). I hear their stories with great interest, but seeing your images here really drives their words and experiences home. Thanks for that.

Keith,
Love the site. I'm a fireman down here in Fayetteville NC. I am origionally from Easton. I was lucky enough to get my feet wet as a firemen there, then spent some time on R 15 in Stratfield then on Stepney Fire in Monroe. Hate that Bridgeport is goin through the tough times still; but love to see all the great pictures. Keep up the good work and stay safe Brother.

Great pictures of Detroit in action. Just retiring on Sept. 5th. with over 38 years of service was an adventure men have dreamed of. I retired at the rank of Senior Chief and am very proud to serve the men and women of Detroit. Their the best. Continue success on your job and continue the pictures coming. I miss the job and the pictures remine me of the days.

Chief Grant in New haven is an old friend, and I check the websites from time to time to see what he's been doing. That is where I came across your site. I was very active in the Shelton Fire Department during the 60' and 70's, when most of the photos were taken by Fred Thomas for the Suburban News, and Ed Cotter for the Evening Sentinel. I regret not obtaining some of the more spectaular photos from back then, when they were available. Keep up the great work.

Tim Foley 29-Oct-2005 20:50
I am a 28 year veteran Firefighter with the Portage Michigan FD. I have been taking fire ground and emergency scene action shots on and off most of my career using 35 mm film. I recently made the leap to digital.

My problem is at night. I cant seem to get a decent exposure. It seems the reflections off the gear are over powering the sensors and everything is dark. I have a Canon 20D and a 580EX flash.

Do you have any suggestions on how to set the camera, flash, ISO, lenses etc. that would help me get a better image. I have searched the web for books or suggestions but have not found anything. I wasn't sure if in your circle of photographers you might have some articles etc. that may be helpful.

Thanks for your time.

Are any of City of Bridgeport firefighters going to help out in New Orleans? And is Connecticut Task Force One (CT-TF-1 on there way to New Orleans?

Thanks

FIREGROUND IMAGES by Keith Muratori31-Aug-2005 04:30
William,
It's not easy. I live right down Route 8 from Bridgeport. Average is a 15 minute drive. They actually have to have something going pretty good if I'm gonna make it and see anything. Bridgeport is a very aggressive department and fire doesn't hang around that long. I also monitor the scanner in my truck when driving to and from work. Hope that answers your question.

Keith
William 30-Aug-2005 17:38

FIREGROUND IMAGES by Keith Muratori29-Apr-2004 01:42
Sorry Lee, no pictures from that night. Too cranky at that point. First of all, I wasn't too happy about being off duty for that one. Second, I couldn't even get there on time with the camera because of all the traffic from the 'burning bridge'. Oh well, can't catch them all, though I wish I could.
See ya,
Keith
