A very "large" comment here, Tony. A great big "Thank You" for your lovely work for us at the Cape Breton Exhibition featuring the RCMP Musical Ride. Your hard work and insistence on the correct stance paid off with your excellent photos. Bravo - from the Kiwanis Ceilidh Golden K.

First of all Tony thank you for visiting my little corner of pBase, I certainly appreciate it. Secondly I wish I had of had more time in Nova Scotia when I was there last year. I only saw the southern half of it. I will return to see the northern half soon. The Maritimes are so much different than what I am used to seeing here on the prairies, just makes you realize how much Canada has to offer.

Tony... I just wanted to thank you for your touching comment on my "I Am a Nurse" gallery. It means so much to me. Nursing was always a big part of my life and a part of who I am.

Your images of Cape Breton are simply incredible! What a wonderful place to live. So much unspoiled beauty. How I would like to explore that area sometime. The best part of Pbase is seeing bits and pieces of this world through another person's eyes and I will definitely be perusing your galleries further. What a refreshing break from the Texas heat!

With many thanks...

Fay

Heather, it was a pleasure to meet you and Alex and thank-you for taking the time to view my photos. I really enjoyed the Hopewell Rocks; having experienced the area with the tide in and when it completely retreated. The Bay of Fundy certainly is a wonder of nature!

Enjoy the photos and your travels and who knows, our paths may cross again.

Take care! Tony

No one in Cape Breton can escape its beauty. It’s everywhere, however thru your lens, I am seeing parts of Cape Breton I never saw before. You are a great ambassador of our island.

Afew years ago, I retired and took a trip up A1A in the states from Key West to Va. Afew months later I decieded to finish this trip and ended up in CB I have ddone all the trails and was overwelmed by the beauty, and the people of Canada. I have been up there 3 times since each trip 30 days. There is so much to see and do. Your PICS capture what I felt and saw.I always tell people about, the trip and the people I met. I can tell from your PICS how much you enjoy what you do. Thank You

Hey Tony,

You likely don't remember me, but you played soft ball with my father - John Lewis. Don't think either one of us knew you were a photographer too. I likely never would have known except for a blog on the CB post website. Your work is beautiful.

We have never visited CBI but are considering moving there when I retire in two years. I was searching for a picture book to show us what it "really" looks like, because, as I said to my husband, "it can't ALL be that beautiful". You have proven me wrong. The photos are exquisite, thank you so much for sharing your gift. I will visit this site again and again until I actually get there.

Great photos. A friend told me about this site and I really enjoy the collection you have.
Spent time on the Trail and hope to do so again.

Hello Tony,

The scenery in your photos is breath taking! I am a life long resident of Eastern Ontario and have only been in Nove Scotia but twice for visits with my wife's sister & her family at Head of Chezzetcook near Dartmouth. The last time we were there, we drove the Cabot Trail from west to east and thoroughly enjoyed the sights. On our way out of Cape Breton, we drove along the Bras'Dor Lakes shores & stopped at Rita's Tea Room at Big Pond.

Having viewed your photo essay, I would love to tour Cape Breton more completely & take in more of the sights. I also intend to tour the Atlantic Provinces, taking in as much as I can in the time I would be able to spend doing so.

Once again, well done! Seldom have I seen such awe inspiring pics of a specific area of our grand country.

Tony,

I love your pictures. I wanted to tell you how much I love the picture of Tuffles Cove Grand Mira North. This is where I grew up and I still live out there just down the road. This is a picture of my parents shore I wanted to tell you who owns the boats. The sail boat is owned by Vincent MacLellan, 1st boat is owned by Kevin and Gail Morrison, 2nd is owned by Stewart and Debra Macdonald and the last one is my parents Joseph and Dorothy MacLellan Tuffles Cove.

Jack, I must say that I do enjoy reading the many positive comments from the visitors to my galleries. However I am very touched by your comment and that I inspired you. The expression of your feelings about not only the pictures but of your desire to come to Cape Breton is really something. Yes, the people here are extremely friendly and I trust you will not be disappointed.

Welcome and all the best to you!

Tony

Tony, I am not an expert in the field however I must say your artistic nature has produced many masterpieces. I am astounded as to the feeling and emotion that flows from these pictures. I am from the northern areas of Michigan originally and have thought of returning many times. Your pictures of Cape Breton Island and the natural rugged beauty of the area has actually prompted me to buy land on Cape Breton. I sent the final payment out yesterday. Being a Michigonian or Michigander as some call us. I grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan. I am used to seeing lots of water and pine trees. So you even made me feel at home and peaceful. I hope to build this year or the next. I hope the people are as friendly as the land is beautiful. And to you sir, please keep up the great work. By reading the other posts, you have many fans.

Hello, Tony,

Thanks so much for the images of The Big Fiddle. I had no idea such a neat icon had been constructed in Sydney. It is certainly appropriate, isn't it? I hope to make the journey from Halifax next summer to see it. -- Peter

Tony,

Thank you for the fantastic photographs of Cape Breton. I am a misplaced Cape Bretoner living in London, England for the last 10 years. There are others here oddly enough. I stop by your gallery periodically for a break and the effect is always the same - emotional.

Dear Tony, a happy New Year to you from the Banses in Germany. I still enjoy your wonderful photos and gave the link to all of my friends, even to a very famous fotographer from Hollywood. Thank you for visiting my galleries and the great compliments you have made. I feel you must be boosting tourism to Cape Breton all on your own. The place is beautiful but you have captured them in a way that just makes a person want to jump in the car and go. I will pass your gallery address along to some of my friends. I am sure they will be impressed as well.

I see you have a 2100UZ. It does take great photos. When I was first buying a digital camera I tried to get one but there were none left on the market. Too bad.

Again ... great galleries.

Thanks Tony for your compliments you left in my gallery. I've passed through the Cape Breton area many times coming to and leaving from home. Now that I'm here in the southernmost city in the US, my chances of getting to see Cape Breton have been greatly reduced. Lucky for me and everyone else your pictures bring memories to life. Thanks for sharing a true artistic talent.

Dave, I thank you and the others that have commented on these photos. We have a beautiful and historical Island and this fact is becoming more well known. I must say we experienced some nice visits by the Queen Mary 2; great weather. I spoke with a number of passengers and they expressed their pleasure with the hospitality of the people. Nice to hear. Take care!

Stacey, You may know more about this than I do. When I took this photo I remember the comment by the announcer that the difference between a Scottish Milling Frolic and an Acadian Milling Frolic is that the Acadians remain standing throughout their frolic while the Scots remain seated. Other than that I suggest the language is different yet the actions with the cloth looks very similar. I see your email address here and I may be able to assist you with a contact person.

stacey 21-Sep-2004 23:32
Hi Tony,
I'm doing a thesis on Scottish Gaelic milling frolics on Cape Breton Island and I was wondering if you know anything about them in Acadian communities or could direct me to someone who might be able to help me. Your photo was the first I have seen of an Acadian milling. Stacey

Beautiful pics of C.B., made me lonesome to see Piorierville wharf and the barrachois. Practically grew up on the wharf in summer and speared eels on the ice of what we called the barrachois. Thanks to Raylene too for sharing. Keep up the good work.
